Meet Callie
Trained Childbirth Educator & Trauma-Informed Doula | Strength and Dignity Birth
Hello, I'm Callie!
I'm a wife, mother of seven,
and Childbirth Educator and birth doula serving Oxford, Tupelo, and the surrounding communities.
My love for birth began with my own experiences of pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. Having welcomed seven children into the world, I know firsthand that no two births are exactly alike. Each one brings its own joys, challenges, uncertainties, and opportunities for growth. Doula work for me started as a ministry to women I loved and cared about. I began in 2012 supporting friends and family in a variety of laboring environments and labor situations. I researched independently and began growing in my knowledge of evidence-based birth. In January of last year (my youngest was two) I decided that I was ready to begin this work as a professional. So, I began training through the Biblical birth school to become a Certified Childbirth Educator and Trauma-Informed Doula. I am now one paper away from my full certification!
Over the years, I've developed a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of birth, as well as the importance of having compassionate, knowledgeable support along the way.
I believe every woman deserves to feel informed, heard, respected, and supported throughout her birth experience. Not because birth will necessarily unfold according to plan, but because her voice and dignity matter regardless of the circumstances.
My Approach to Birth
I often describe my role as that of a professional listener.
Of course, there are practical things I bring to the birth space: education, comfort measures, labor positions, encouragement, and continuous support. But before any of those things, I want to listen.
I want to understand what matters to you, what you're hoping for, what you're concerned about, and what helps you feel safe and supported.
I believe good preparation begins with good information. I value evidence-based education, thoughtful questions, and honest conversations about the benefits and risks of different options. My role is not to tell you what kind of birth you should have, but to help you understand your choices and feel confident participating in your care.
Whether you're hoping for an unmedicated birth, planning an epidural, preparing for an induction, or simply uncertain about what labor might bring, I'm honored to support you.
Your body was designed for birth, your choices deserve respect, and your worth is never measured by the outcome.
Why Strength and Dignity?
The name Strength and Dignity reflects two things I believe are already present in every woman.
Strength doesn't always look the way we imagine. Sometimes it looks like perseverance through a difficult contraction. Sometimes it looks like asking questions, changing your mind, accepting help, or surrendering a plan that is no longer possible.
And dignity isn't something you earn by having a particular kind of birth. It belongs to you whether your experience is peaceful or overwhelming, straightforward or complicated, medicated or unmedicated.
My hope is to help you recognize the strength you already possess and to protect your sense of dignity throughout your experience.
A Little More About Me
Outside of birth work, you'll usually find me at home with my family. I'm a homeschooling mom who loves good books, meaningful conversations, strong coffee, FOOD, and the ordinary rhythms of family life.
I'm a lifelong learner, and that curiosity carries naturally into my work as a doula. I love studying the physiology of birth, reading research, and considering how the information we have can help women make thoughtful decisions.
My Christian faith shapes the way I understand the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and it inspires me to serve families with humility, compassion, and respect. I welcome the opportunity to support women and families of all backgrounds and birth preferences.
Faith & the Heart of a Doula
My Christian faith is foundational to the way I understand and approach my work. I believe that every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent worth and dignity. This conviction shapes the way I care for the women and families I serve.
The word doula comes from the Greek word for a female servant, and I find that meaning especially fitting. In Mark 10:45, Jesus tells us that even He came not to be served, but to serve. His example of humility and selfless love is one I hope to reflect in my own work.
To me, being a doula is an opportunity to serve others in a very practical and personal way. Sometimes that means offering physical comfort or encouragement. Other times, it means listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, or simply being a steady presence in moments of uncertainty.
My faith also informs the way I think about strength and dignity. Proverbs 31:25 tells us that "Strength and dignity are her clothing." I believe these qualities are not measured by how a woman gives birth, how well she tolerates pain, or whether everything unfolds according to plan. Her dignity is inherent, and her strength may be expressed in many different ways and is a source of inalienable power she can tap into.
While my faith shapes my approach to this work, my role is never to impose my beliefs or preferences on the families I support. I am here to listen, to serve, and to honor the individual needs, convictions, and choices of each woman.
My hope is to serve faithfully, love generously, and help every woman feel heard, respected, and supported throughout her birth experience.
I'd Love to Meet You
Choosing someone to invite into your birth space is a deeply personal decision. I would love the opportunity to hear your story, learn what you're hoping for, and talk about how I might support you.
Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, whether you have a detailed birth plan or aren't quite sure where to begin, you are welcome here.
Birth belongs to you.
