Thoughtful Doula Support Rooted in Evidence-Based Care

I believe every woman deserves to feel informed, heard, and supported throughout her birth experience. My approach combines current evidence-based information with time-honored comfort measures, helping you prepare for birth with confidence and make decisions that reflect your own values and preferences.

Whether your birth unfolds as you imagined or takes an unexpected turn, my role is to walk alongside you, offering steady encouragement, practical support, and a listening ear. Because your birth belongs to you.

As a certified doula in Oxford, Mississippi, I want to be there for you.

“This world needs to be adorned with lovely little ones.”

What to Expect When We Work Together

Our Prenatal Visits

Getting acquainted. Preparing with intention.

Our two prenatal appointments are an opportunity to prepare for your birth together, both practically and personally.

During our first visit, we'll take time to discuss your hopes, concerns, and preferences for labor and delivery. We'll explore your birth plan, consider the decisions you may encounter, and talk through what matters most to you. I want to understand not only the birth you're hoping for, but how you want to be supported along the way.

Our second visit is more hands-on. Together with your birth partner, we'll explore labor positions, movement, breathing techniques, counterpressure, and other comfort measures. We'll discuss how your body works during labor and practice techniques that may encourage progress and help you cope with contractions.

By the time labor begins, my hope is that we've established a comfortable relationship and that both you and your partner feel more prepared for the experience ahead.

During Labor & Birth

A familiar face. A steady presence.

When active labor begins, I'll join you to provide continuous, individualized support as you work toward welcoming your baby.

Sometimes my role is active and hands-on: offering counterpressure, suggesting position changes, assisting with movement, helping you find a comfortable rhythm, or supporting your birth partner.

Other times, the most valuable thing I can offer is a quiet presence, a reassuring word, or simply helping preserve a peaceful atmosphere.

As labor unfolds, I draw on my training in birth physiology, labor positioning, and comfort measures to offer practical suggestions tailored to your circumstances and preferences.

When decisions arise, I can help you understand your options, formulate questions, and communicate with your care team. My role is never to make decisions for you, or to bring judgement or personal opinions, but to help you remain an informed and active participant in your birth.

I also work hard to help dads tap into their own sense of power in birth. Often, dads want to be helpful and hands on but lack the tools and confidence they need in order to provide support. I work with them to show them how to give counterpressure or massage or just offer some lifegiving words of encouragement. I also offer reassurance and answer questions as labor changes and unfolds. Sometimes just understanding why something is happening offers a lot of comfort and reassurance. In the case of a long labor, I love to provide mom with support so dad can take a little nap and be well rested, so that he can be a good caregiver when the time comes!

The Golden Hour

Welcoming your baby.

The first hour following birth is often called the Golden Hour—a special time for bonding, uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact, and the beginning of breastfeeding.

Whenever circumstances allow, I'll encourage a calm, unhurried environment where you and your baby can become acquainted. I'll help you recognize your baby's early feeding cues and support your first breastfeeding experience with practical guidance on positioning, bringing baby to the breast, and encouraging a deep, comfortable latch.

I can also help you recognize signs of effective feeding and offer reassurance as you learn together. If more specialized assistance is needed, I'll encourage you to connect with a qualified lactation professional.

This time is about you, your baby, and your family. My role is to quietly support those first precious moments while respecting your preferences and any medical needs.

I usually stay for the first hour, sometimes two, and make sure you have everything you need and are comfortable and set up for the best start possible with your baby. If you have questions, I am only a text away!

Your Postpartum Processing Visit

Every birth has a story worth telling.

After your baby arrives, we'll meet again in the first week or two for a dedicated postpartum visit.

This is more than a quick check-in. It is an opportunity to sit together, revisit your birth experience, drink a warm comforting drink and give you space to tell your story.

We'll walk through the events of your labor and birth, reflecting on what you remember, what surprised you, and which moments felt especially meaningful or difficult. I can help you piece together the timeline, recall decisions and conversations, and explore questions that may have arisen along the way.

Sometimes birth unfolds much as we hoped. Other times, it takes unexpected turns, leaving us with emotions or questions we didn't anticipate.

There is no expectation that you feel a particular way about your experience. My role is to listen without judgment, celebrate with you, make room for difficult feelings, and help you reflect on your story with compassion and understanding.

We'll also check in on your recovery, adjustment to motherhood, and early breastfeeding experience, with practical guidance and referrals when needed.

Ultimately, by the end I hope you feel like I am an old, safe friend that you can’t imagine saying goodbye to. (In fact, please don’t! Send me baby pictures and updates!)

Your birth story matters. And you deserve the opportunity to tell it.
